How it works – Sending a fax
1. A fax is sent using E-mail and is addressed to the Recipient’s fax number @ domain. The E-mail page will come out as a cover page with the attachment as the body of the fax.
2. This E-mail is then turned into a real fax and sent through the gateway out over a Public Switch Telephone Network (PSTN) to the Recipient.
3. A fax arrives at the Recipient’s Fax Machine.
Known Issues – Sending a fax
1. This service is not a replacement for a real-time fax, emails are stored and forwarded to fax server(s) for delivery, where they are processed, in order of priority. It can therefore not be compared to a real-time fax where a call is made the moment you press send.
2. This service relies on receiving email in Plain Text format, encoded as Mime, Base64. Certain free email platforms such as Gmail append HTML encoded advertisements to the body of the email that could cause faxes to be rendered incorrectly.
3. This service is fully compatible with all Microsoft, Lotus Notes and Groupwise email clients, customers are warned that this service is however NOT compatible with Thunderbird, Applemail & IncrediMail. |
